About GAPIO

Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (GAPIO) is a non-profit organization founded in 2011. Padm Shri Dr. Prathap C Reddy, Chairman of Apollo Hospitals Group, serves as the Founder President of GAPIO, along with Dr. Sanku Rao, the Past President of AAPI, USA, and Dr. Ramesh Mehta, the President of BAPIO, UK.

The primary objective of GAPIO is to unite 1.4 million physicians of Indian origin worldwide on a single professional platform. This significant cohort of physicians can play a crucial role in driving healthcare advancements globally and within India.

GAPIO has a presence in 57 countries and encompasses members from various medical specialities and super specialities, including Padma awardees, Dr. B C Roy Awardees, and recipients of National and International awards. Since its inception, GAPIO has organized 13 annual conferences in India and 10 midyear conferences overseas.

With a substantial number of Indian Physicians working in regions such as the Middle East, South East Asia, and Africa, GAPIO acknowledges the potential of this workforce to facilitate substantial progress in global health. The organization seeks to provide a unified professional platform for this esteemed and influential diaspora of Indian doctors.

Recognizing the need for increased visibility and unity among these physicians, GAPIO aims to harness their collective intellectual and technical capabilities to contribute significantly to the development of the Indian healthcare sector. GAPIO is a non-profit organization with a vision to “Improving Health Worldwide.” Its mission is to empower physicians of Indian origin to uphold the highest professional standards, deliver affordable high-quality healthcare, contribute to local and regional community development, and address health inequalities on a global scale.
